30 days of working from anywhere: an honest diary
Cafés, libraries and a friend's balcony: a month of remote work with no fixed desk.
For thirty days I worked anywhere except my usual desk. Some days were glorious: sunshine, a great flat white, deep focus. Others were a hunt for a power socket and a quiet corner.
The biggest lesson was that location matters less than rhythm. The days that worked had the same shape: deep work in the morning, calls after lunch and a hard stop in the evening.
The second lesson was to always carry headphones and a backup hotspot. Café Wi-Fi is a promise, not a guarantee.
- Pick one 'deep work' block each day and protect it like a meeting.
- Try one new work spot this week and note what helped your focus.
- Set a daily hard stop time and tell someone about it.
